Our young protagonist is one of many who doesn't know what he wants in life but understands that if he stays in his small hometown he won't find it. He leaves against the advice of those he knows and ends up in a place that looks like it will help him achieve his dream, whatever it turns out to be. He is a "babe in the woods" insofar as he has no idea what kind of challenges he's in for, and a "kid in a candy store" in that he's not afraid to face them. It doesn't matter if it takes him two weeks or ten years, he's going to find his purpose and fulfill it. |

This is a song about someone with a crappy life who doesn't know any way besides getting high or intoxicated to escape. It makes the bad stuff good and the good stuff better... until it doesn't. At the end, he ends up in a prison of his own making, which is much harder to break free from than his initial situation. |
