It's not rocket science folks . Duncan is a poor kid just striking out on his own. He meets the girl and has sex for the first time. There's nothing ambiguous about this and he was dumped as soon as it happens, but it was memorable."Just like a dog I was befriended." It can't be more clear, but the experience was a life changing moment not to soon be forgotten. "Oh what a night, what a garden of delight. Even now that sweet memory lingers." C'mon folks. This is no mystery. I remember my first time and it was nearly 50 years ago and I too was befreinded, but I'll never forget that night. Like a dog I was dumped out on the street afterwards, but the actual act? I'll never forget it. The religious nonsense too is a common experience for young people trying to find their way in the world and religious zealots often prey on the young .they certainly preyed on me back then and sex is and was often used to influence kids. They tried it on me as well. I remember leaving a church after being recruited (The Moonies! I was one for a short period) When I was ready to go a pretty young woman was all but given to me in an attempt to get me to stay, but I left anyway. The sex was certainly memorable. This song really sticks with me for all these reasons, but none of it is a mystery. |
