| The speaker is talking from a state of depression, true depression, that you can't just will yourself out of. Its a state in which nothing matters, because the horizon is laden with defeating problems that no one else seems to care about. Is it a solution to take drugs (antidepressants), or does that make the speaker not care as well? Even when distractions arise (sex), they are only temporary highs before the everyday mundane things (saddest little cloth, water etc) remind and connect you back to your feelings of forlorn. Even your feelings lack that which you once felt, lack substance, and possibly describes the inner world, or "heart" or "soul". | |
