My feeling is that they are both homeless. She's rich because she allows herself to love fully, but knows that he is much more detached. He's hanging out with her for now, for convenience. He can gussy up (fake it) by changing his clothes and putting on aftershave. She's drawn the diamonds (shapes) on the souls of her shoes (like with a pen). She knows the diamonds make her special, but also that they will be destroyed (worn off) by wearing them on the soles of her shoes. It's okay, because she can draw more diamonds on (fall completely in love again). JMHT - I love this song and feel in in my soul when it plays. |
