I just realized most of these comments are from like 10+ yrs ago and probably no one will see mine but whatever lol i like analyzing songs anyway i think this whole song is from the pov of an elderly person in a nursing home. They are old, and lonely, far from their family, they feel gross, everyone around them is gross, and they are acting out, maybe even suicidal because they dont see a point in life if its just sitting in a home somewhere. They think their family would rather shoot or cut themselves than be around them, and being in therapy together is the only thing thats brought them together. On a darker vein of thought, its almost like the family who put them in the home is genuinely sick and tired of them, and maybe actually tries to "put them out of their misery" so to say, because of the constant "dont shoot" and "youre hurting me" lines and the whole part at the end. Either way, its a lonely elderly person who feels forgotten about by their family and just wants the attention of their loved ones again and will do anything to get it, even hurt themself. |

I dont think this is about a relationship at all, and i definitely dont think its a out MM. I get their connection, but come on, Jessicka doesnt need every song she writes to be about him lol Anyway, this song is about how fucked up the southern US is. Crimes are covered up, everybody knows everybody so its easy for shit to just get washed away and forgotten. However, she doesnt agree with them, she isnt anti-everything, and shes targeted and ostracized for it. I think the end implies shes kidnapped and killed for not conforming with the ideals of the "rebel force" not to mention, its called confederate fag.......shes surrounded by them but shes different and she embodies all they hate. |

Im going to go a bit of a different direction, and maybe im just projecting, but i also think its the relationship between a parent and child, but specifically that of a queer child and a nonaccepting parent. "WE hide in the cupboards" implies both parties are hiding, avoiding one another, both are uncomfortable. "see something thats nothing and then start to cry" because they look at their relationship and theres nothing there, no love between them. "crawl quick past eachother/the cord starts to break" this makes me think of an umbilical cord, theyre distancing themselves more and more from eachother, even familiar ties cant keep them together. "i gave you too much/thats my big mistake" this is when the child came out to their parent, they gave them too much information on their life, too much trust, and thats when it all went to hell. i dont think "faithfully. as i fuck all the rest" is actually sexual, i dont think this line means literally fucking people, i think its more of a figurative "fuck it" attitude, like they promised their parent they wouldnt so certain things to preserve what little relationship they had, then they said fuck it and did it anyway. i think "insect boy becomes a girl" is the strongest line to back up this theory for obvious reasons, a cockroach is said to be able to survive so much shit, so by completeing their transition even at the cost of family they have become like a cockroach, able to survive anything. |
