| Charles the grinning boy = Ray Charles? You never see Ray Charles without that grin and then there is the line about 'covers on his eyes'. As we all know he was blind and always wore dark glasses. I don't have any theories about who Susy is, but the musical references are obvious. A not-so-obvious musical reference is 'can't you dig the locomotion'. The Loco-motion was a big hit first released in 1962, the same time frame as mentioned in the song. | |
