John Grant – GMF Lyrics 6 years ago
If any one has cared enough about the lyrics they would learn about John Grant instead of applying the words to their own life as “the meaning” of what John wrote, they would have researched the artist, as much as possible and as available, through interviews that were published and are readily available simply by putting “John Grant music artist” in the search bar of any decent browser. John Grant brilliantly shares his life publicly, his trial and tribulatinons, sucesses and joy with any situation and by doing so affords others the chance to see the other side of said situations and an alternative point of reference to gain self respect. Read about the man and you will fully understand what and where he is coming from. I did, I do and as sappy as this may sound, knowing that someone else felt exactly the way I did and do concerning matters of the heart saved my life.

Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks Lyrics 6 years ago
Its not as simple as a “disturbed” kid going on a killing spree, thats to shallow and a completely fundamental way of thinking, sort of like how most organized religion has a fundamental view on homosexuality and everyone knows what that is. The meaning appears to be much more than even a killing spree, as I interpret it, which is just a by product (not minimizing the end result of said spree, not at all, so dont read my opinion that way) of not a disturbed kids actions, but the actions of anyone that (educated guess here) that endured the life of the kid referenced in the lyrics. In order to act out at such a level as the song insinuates, that kid (or adult, Im assuming its a kid) was exposed to and some how survived a horrific array of physical, mental and social terrorism that would cause any human being to forget the happy dance. The lyrics plainly point out, not vaguely, “Dad”. Why? My opinion is that is the source of one (if not all) of the aforementioned genres of terrorism. Killing sprees are are a horrific act and even more so when children are the intended target (again, not minimizing any genres of age group, so dont read it that way) even more tragic when the shooter was a child. I believe that the meaning is more about the results of unmitigated abuse and is bringing THAT to the surface in order to bring awareness to all who engage, at any level, in the systematic dismantling of someone else’s mental and physical well being is fucked up and in my opinion, just as responsible for the end result as the shooter. I do not advocate violence, verbal or otherwise, towards any human being unless ones life is being placed in a position of imminent game over status at that moment. Look at the cause of the end result and fix that, perhaps then spree killings wont happen.

Disclaimer: I am not making excuses for or offering sympathy to or for any person who commits any murder. If thats what you took from what you just read, well, your wrong.
