It's about a bad breakup/betrayal. You're partly in denial, you don't want to deal with these thoughts/feelings, and the monumental change in you life...but there's no escape. There are " clean moments" when you see the situation for what it is, but it hurst: "Turning a blind eye Won't make the world disappear The second sight returns So, too, does the pain and fear I'll refuse to acknowledge I'll refuse to accept Reality force-feeding me anguish and regret" There's also anger, cursing the name of your ex. Wishing them to suffer the same way you do. "And you will suffer And you will drown You are the victor? How heavy's the crown? You... once so close to me This once-so-sacred place is now a murder scene Your name? Just a soliloquy, dead to me Your presence will forever be dead to me" This song hits me right where I live, sadly. But somehow, the solo sounds oddly optimistic, that why I'm able to listen to this song without breaking down. It's a masterpiece. |
