Sheryl Crow – Everyday Is A Winding Road Lyrics 6 years ago
"Everyday is a winding road" — You never know where the events in your life will lead you at the end of the day.

"Everyday is a faded sign" — There is something to learn from every experience, although it is not always clear what it is.

"I've been wondering if all the things I've seen were ever real" — Never be afraid to question yourself and how you look at life.

Gordon Lightfoot – The House You Live In Lyrics 6 years ago
My favorite line: "Be calm in the face of all common disgraces and know what they're doing it for" — Be willing to have a reasonable conversation with anyone, no matter what you hear about them.

Sheryl Crow – Chances Are Lyrics 6 years ago
This is the most beautiful song of all time. It makes me happy like nothing else in the universe. Every time I listen to this song I cry heavily and then I feel relaxed for hours. Every second of this song is perfection.

"We were apes before we spoke of sin
The cosmos sits on the tip of a pin"
Beautiful.

Simon and Garfunkel – Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall Lyrics 6 years ago
In essence, I believe this song is about how people are living in their own illusions and how we all need to be honest with ourselves.

The first verse implies confusion about life and how Paul "hides behind the shield of his illusion". This, along with the chorus, I think are about how people tend to have a predetermined view of what is right and are oblivious to the negative impacts of their actions.

The chorus could also be about how nothing great is ever accomplished without upsetting some people; flowers need rain, but it also makes them bend, wilt, and fall off.

In the second verse, "The mirror on my wall casts an image dark and small, but I'm not sure at all it's my reflection" I think means that we are not always who we think we are; we must learn to be honest with ourselves about our actions and why we do the things we do.

"I am blinded by the light of god and truth and right" means that what other people tell us is right is not necessarily what is actually right — We must learn that for ourselves.

The third verse, then, is about giving up on all the illusions and facing up to reality. The final line in the third verse makes this clear.

"It's no matter if you're born to play the king or pawn, for the line is thinly drawn 'tween joy and sorrow" I think means that wealth is meaningless. The reality is that anyone can be happy, life is about deciding what to make of what you have been given.

OneRepublic – Counting Stars Lyrics 6 years ago
I could not figure out how to edit my other comment, so I am posting a new one because I listened to the song again recently.

As I said in my other comment, I think this song is about how we keep making the same mistakes over and over again, and if we just get up and do what is right, we can actually make a difference.

I think the first verse "Lately I've been losing sleep, dreaming about the things that we could be... No more counting dollars, we'll be counting stars" means that we can all be something greater if we focus on what is really important: In this case, experiences and not money.

"I don't think the world is sold, we're just doing what we're told" means that we can make a real difference if we just stop conforming to societal expectations.

"I feel something so right doing the wrong thing" and "I feel something so wrong doing the right thing" I think mean that it is not always clear what is right and what is wrong, or perhaps that it is often too tempting to do what is easy instead of what is right.

"Everything that kills me makes me feel alive" and "Everything that drowns me makes me want to fly" means that when the world beats you down, instead of staying down, you should get up and make a difference.

Finally, "Down this river every turn" and "Sink in the river, the lessons are learned" I think mean that people have a tendency of not learning from their mistakes until it is too late.

I think this song is about how we can make a difference and save the world if we only stop making the same mistakes over and over.

"Say no more counting dollars, we'll be counting stars" — There are more important things than money.

"I don't think the world is sold, we're just doing what we're told" — We can change the world if we just stop conforming to the same social expectations.

"Everything that kills me makes me feel alive" — When the world beats you down, instead of staying down, stand up and make a difference.

"Sink in the river, the lessons are learned" — We have a tendency to only learn from our mistakes after it is already too late.
