So...according to this wiki, Layne didn't even write this song. Jerry Cantrell did. My first thought on the meaning of the song, when I thought Layne wrote it, was that it was about his fiancée, Demri Lara Parrott, who died of a drug overdose. Thinking it was about him not wanting to live anymore since she died. But this song was recorded in 1993 and she died in 1996. So much for that theory. I still think it's just about someone depressed that no longer has the will to go on living. |
