| Bram Tchaikovsky – The Russians Are Coming Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| Recorded in 1980, title track of the album, it is obviously about "detente" started by Nixon & Kissinger to have better relations with the USSR, Detente was ended in December 1979 by Jimmy Carter when the Soviet Union went into Afghanistan. President carter is referenced as "Uncle Jimmy". The song has all the underlying tensions between the USA & Soviet Union referenced metaphorically throughout juxtaposed with wanting to be friends - the detente. As with Mister President (another cold war track) this is most likely the only transcription of this track on the internet and I am glad to provide this and more in the future when I get time! >:) | |
| Bram Tchaikovsky – Mister President Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| Recorded in 1980 in the interregnum between Carter and Reagan. Surreal but very apt song for the times, with America the world hegemon and essentially an Empire and a bully, not only militarily but economically, hence "the world in chains" with "the serving maids wore red suits" an obvious postulation that the Soviet Communists are now servants to the Americans. (Red is communist colours). This may well also be the first transcription of this Bram Tchaikovsky track anywhere on the internet and am glad to finally get around to transcribing some more tracks. :) | |

Add a muff fuzz and all the rookies think it's the Doors or David Bowie or some other trendy top40 60's artist. It's neither of them and not even close. The song is a tribute to Iggy Pop. If any of you who thinks it is the Doors or w/e had a clue, you'd recognise the Fuzz effect on the guitar as classic Fuzzrite sound frorm the Stooges. The ex-Drummer from the Sex Pistols played the Vibraphone on this song. |
