| I think this song is about magic and ritual. I don’t really agree with the whole drug abuse perspective. Seems too typical, sure spoons are mentioned, but not every song with a spoon is a reference to heroin. This melody has more of a fantastic desperation to it. Like when you play with fire, you might get burned. Hence the illusion of the creature which can be wished away by a simple clap. The whole narrative illustrates a deep woods witches coven or voodoo hut. Bending spoons with your mind is clearly a reference to someone’s who’s working magic or testing their will power. Some get lost in the mastery of themselves, even become homeless. | |
