When the song first starts, he says, “if I had to lose a mile, if I had to touch feelings, I would lose my soul, the way I do”, which to me means, if he had to stop avoiding his feelings, he probably wouldn’t be able to handle them, and that they would just be too much. However, when he says if he had to lose a mile, that means that if all that happened to him didn’t, he would also lose his soul. Honestly, when he says the next few lines, it sounds as if he’s mocking someone to me, or talking about how he wish he really was. When he says “would you like to hear my voice, sprinkled with emotion, invented at your birth?” It sounds like he’s asking the people that are listening too him if they want to hear his pain, at their enjoyment. When he says invented at your birth, I think of change or a awakening. The next few lines, talks about how he can’t see the end off himself. This, in my opinion, showed that he depressed or suicidal, like he felt like he was alive and would be alive forever, which wasn’t true. Usually, when time seems to be going slow, it means that you’re not having fun. This song is relatable, but still makes me really sad. |
