The song is about the famous murderer and body snatcher Ed Gein. After his mother's death he dug up graves and collected body parts to recreate her appearance. He began to create a "woman suit" so that "he could become his mother—to literally crawl into her skin". "She's over by my place as decoration I preserved her face for inspiration" " Mother's not really gone I'm dressing in her Dusty musty shrine to ma Board the door so she'll keep long There's no way that she'll be leaving me" "Familiar faces of the long dead" - he used to exhume freshly buried bodies of women which resembled his mother. Ed was known as "Butcher of Plainfield". "The mad butcher goes bump in the night" When authorities arrested him and searched his farm they found many human body parts: "Flashlights from authorities Lanterns brighten up the scene" "The farm bathes in the thumping moonlight It incubates my grief and madness" "Deadache" is a word-play of the words "dead" and "headache" describing Ed's mental condition. |

The song seems to be a reference to Tobi's other project Avantasia, which was starting to arise once again in 2006/2007. The "peacock" mentioned in the lyrics is Tobi himself and the "aristocratic experts" are all the critics of the new sound of Edguy. Probably some of them are from the sound industry and Tobi is basically saying he's doesn't care about their opinion or the fact that some of them want him "fired" or "dying" or "doomed eternally". He just takes "his share" from the sales and he's happy with it. Also, the "from outer space" mentioned in the lyrics most probably refers to the "Rocket Ride" album. The mentioning of "Judas" and "treason" in the lyrics reestablishes the fact that he's seen as the bad guy even though he does't feel as such and that "There ain't no reason" for that. |
