This is my favorite Chainsmokers song by far. The beginning explains what the term means to the song, "a sentimental yearning for a reality that isn't genuine" and "an irrecoverable for fantasy that evokes nostalgia or day dreams." We've all been here before but who has any idea what to call it? It's that feeling of utmost beauty in our own world that any scent, feeling, or perception can take us to. A moment in time where we felt invincible, our happiest and proudest in the memory bank. A yearning that feels so sweet but also distant and nostalgic. A Summer growing up with a best friend, the arms of a parent as you felt safe and bonded. Within the song, it is raw, unprovoked love we carry with some. The beginning when everything is amazing, and time is beautiful. That sliver before life grips us and shows human characteristics in loved ones. When we believe a person is PERFECT, a moment in time that was PERFECT. You can taste it, smell it, close your eyes and engulf yourself in the memory, but you will never relive it. |
