Kate & Anna Mcgarrigle – Matapedia Lyrics 6 years ago
The "Daighter of Kate", Martha, in the song refers to an actual real life person - Kate McGarrigle's daughter Martha Wainwright, who also sing backing on the track.

Matapedia is a river in Canada, and likewise a place. It's a town located on the Quebec/New Brunswick border, where the Matapedia river becomes one with the Restigouch River, eventually flowing out into the Chaleur Bay. This point is also the start of the Appalachians.

Kate & Anna Mcgarrigle – Love Over and Over Lyrics 6 years ago
While most of the song probably does not have any particular meaning, there is a Reference to another one of the songs. "You ask me how I feel, I said my heart is like a wheel, why don't you listen to it some time?" Is a direct reference to Anna McGarrigle penned song "Heart Like A Wheel", a 1974 hit for Linda Ronstadt that got the sisters a recording contract with Warner Bros.
