While ALL of your interpretations are close and sound good, but the actual lyrics from inside the album “Because of the Times” that I’m holding in my hand are: Homegrown. Rock to the rhythm and bop to the beat of the radio. You ain’t got the slang but you’ve got the face to play the role. You can play with me… And all the bros. Try for the courage and try for charity’s tight clothes. She’s got a hat and all the hat says is “ASSHOLE”. She’ll be bobbing to me… Pretty hairdos. And those lipstick kisses blown yeah, that’s the right move. Make me feel like I’m the one who moves you. The only one you see… Now take it down. Don’t you let those tears quench the thirsty ground. Don’t you be so scared that you can’t make a sound. Make a sound for me… All of London sing! ‘Cause England swings and they sure love the tales that I bring. No, the rainy days they ain’t so bad when you’re the King. The King they wanna see… Homegrown. So, rock to the rhythm and bop to the beat of the radio. You ain’t got the slang but you’ve got the face to play the role. You can play with me… Pretty hairdo. And those lipstick kisses and all you asked for is “Ragoo”. Make me feel like I’m the one who’s moving you. The only one you see… All of London sing! ‘Cause England swings and they sure love the tales I bring. And those rainy days they ain’t so bad when you’re the King. The King they wanna be… |

| Air – You Can Tell It To Everybody Lyrics | 5 years ago |
| * has anyone else found the undeniable similarity to something Pink Floyd in the this melody?? I swear, I just heard this song for the first time this evening and instinctively, the first thing that came to my lips was: "...And did we tell you the name of the game, boy?.. We call it "Riding The Gravy Train" Pink Floyd's Have a Cigar. Take a listen, Air's "You Can Tell It To Everybody" completely took the melody from "Have a Cigar". | |

| @[thecrossbone:30658] * Wow. That was a beautiful piece of literature. I created an account simply to reply to you to say that what you wrote was incredible, beautifully written and absolutely inspiring. I was in high school when Pearl Jam released Ten and while many of my friends were backing the more popular tracks, this song, like many of the other people on here, holds a significant meaning to me and events that happened at that time in my life... So much so that I still think of it today, I think of her and all of the things that I should have done to keep her and didn't. It makes me happy to read something like this though, to know that every story surrounding this song wasn't tragic. I am genuinely happy for you. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful piece of writing with us. | |
