I love this song, and I think it's one of Finn's best (which is saying a lot). I agree that the song is about the stigma around suicide (and depression and mental illness more generally). There's also a comment on toxic masculinity (for lack of a better term) in the last stanza. The form of the song is a bit unusual: A B A B C B D Finn's decision to add a 4th musical idea at the very end of the song, coincides with the new lyrical idea and hints that this was an attempt by Finn to actually start talking about the problem of suicide/depression. |
