I Don't know what exactly the writers were inspired by , but for me it's about two main group of people: first the many child soldiers around the world forced into a state of slavery , not knowing what they are doing or why , and the fact that no one remembering them and that they don't matter to their masters in : "The child without a name grew up to be the hand To watch you, to shield you or kill on demand" also stating they're just some puppets to their masters , just pawns in some sick game the second is also similar to the first but generally mentioning any human being being played by propaganda or else without truly knowing what they're doing |

Well i didn't know it was made for a game, but even if it was written and composed for a game , which makes it based on fiction and made for fiction , there are a lot of verses that point to reality. i interpret this to questioning the fact that why humans start wars and killing each other , take a look at this section: When we start killing It's all coming down right now From the nightmare we've created, I want to be awakened somehow When we start killing it all will be falling down From the hell that we're in All we are is fading away when we start killing... as you see it fits with what humanity has been occupied with in the last century , waging wars , and it depicts what will become of humanity if waging war continues , referring to the world we have created and the wars as " the nightmare we've created " & " the hell that we're in " and concluding the fact that humanity will fade away when we start killing (each other) in " All we are is fading away " & " when we start killing... " then there is this section : We've been searching all night long but there's no trace to be found It's like they all have just vanished but I know they're around I feel they're getting closer Their howls are sending chills down my spine and time is running out now They're coming down the hills from behind asking if all the wars humanity is waging is part of some sort of paranoia and none of them are just , making war and pretending someone else started it , that there is a horde of beasts coming down the hills from behind , referring to the fact that we are fighting something we can't see but we know there it exists behind those hills , rationalizing our own actions and finally in this section : The sun is rising The screams have gone Too many have fallen Few still stand tall Is this the ending of what we've begun? Will we remember what we've done wrong? questioning that when we finally come to our senses , will we realize it was a lost cause fighting and killing , will be there anything left of humanity to begin with? and even then will we admit to our wrongdoings or will we continue to rationalize? will we face extinction by our own hands? becoming the only species that were extinct by their own kind, at their own hands? |
