@[RiseofKolb:30384] Martin did struggle with alcohol, not heroin, for many years. I believe this and many other songs were written with Dave in mind--not only because of his heroin addiction, but his voice as well and how Dave's great baritone range could belt out the song like a great instrument. Martin knew that if Dave could relate to the lyrics, he'd sing them with passion. And guess what? Martin was 100% correct. Martin is a world class songwriter, but Dave is a world class vocalist and in my opinion, Dave brings life to the songs that wouldn't be there without him. |

| I think the inspiration for the song is a book by R.D. Ronald, The Zombie Room. It's a good read and I can see that Martin pulled the characters from it and incorporated them into the song. | |
