I know no one will probably ever see this, but I finally figured out the lyric! I just couldn't hear it until today
Not with bulge in my souls - incorrect as I knew it was
Not with bulgin' muscles - correct
I feel kinda silly but glad I finally got it |

Rob (lead singer) put the following on twitter a few years ago about the album as a whole, which I think explains a bit of what's going on in this song:
To clarify, the album is entitled "Summer in Abaddon". The narrator character of the album title has gone incognito for a summer job in a cruise ship bar band featuring Anthony "Abaddon" Bray of the Newcastle black metal pioneering band Venom that becomes lost at sea, wherein the surviving bandmates experiment with entering each other's subconscious to stave off madness, ironically leading to the narrator seemingly becoming trapped inside Abaddon's psyche even though that is, of course, impossible, and the narrator if taken at his word, has merely gone insane. |

The start's so bizarre... And I hear the song is actually sung by a hobo that Beck talked to some. Poor hobo? |

I've been listening to this song for years and today is the first time I discovered he said "There's a good fellow!". For some reason I thought he said "As a propeller" and they used it because of the band's name. Weird how it took so long to hear it. Anyway, great song! It's about bangin' on! |

@[cupcakinl:53118] I also think it's dark doom. I was positive I was hearing that correctly and dark dawn just doesn't sound right. Thanks! |

From an interview I found: "It’s a story. I remember writing the first sort of lines. It was a long time ago, when we recorded the first record. In Stockholm they have this truck that cleans the streets and it comes in the middle of the night, once a week — especially in Stockholm, cause we use a lot of sand in winter to get the streets dry. A lot of things had changed in my life, and that truck, that sound, every night put me to sleep." |

@[gingerbeardman:47558] I had forgotten but I guess I do have the promo version. I didn't know this wasn't on the regular album. I wish I could help you with where the sample came from. I'm guessing it's from something Canadian that none of us have ever heard about. Always makes me laugh though! |

@[stegemreeali:47238] My guess is it has to do with the new year sometimes being represent by a baby (Baby New Year)? She's saying to worry about the present instead of worrying about what might happen in the future. |

You idiot! I had them right there! I was ready to destroy them!
It doesn't matter!
You have everything you need right here!
You, me, the snowman!
Fuck the snowmen!
Why?! Why?! Why? |

@[pimpmyliz:45957] From whiskyclone.net: Beck asked Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and MIA to do the "one by one I'll knock you out" part, but neither could do it. Instead he used his niece, Lucia. |

This is the tragic story of some bank robbers who share an unfortunate medical condition where a constant barrage of 'dookies' leave their bodies in stressful situations. Eventually there are too many 'dookies', causing the thieves to become stuck, leading to their demise. An important lesson to learn... always know your limits. |

The way I interpret this is a parent thinking of how innocent his/her daughter is and what will happen as the daughter approaches adulthood. Will she succeed in life or fail? Will she leave home and begin to resent where she came from? Will she use what her parents taught her or throw it away?
I'm sure a familiar feeling most parents go through. |

I think this has something to do with everyone in the Bran Van 3000 band keeping the beat going, ie. creating groovy music that the kids can dance to. |
