It's funny how everyone kind of "hit" the ball all around the real meaning of this song. Considering that this was written and released around 2005, during the time Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong were breaking up, if you go back and really listen to the lyrics, you realize that this song for the most part was written to Lance in regards to their relationship....call it reflective if you will. And honestly, if I recall, in an interview with Sheryl back then, she as much as said the same. In fact, a lot of of that whole album was a retrospective of the time spent with Lance Armstrong. Makes the line "Good is good and bad is bad But you don't know which one you had...." make a lot more sense as well as the subsequent lines in that verse to follow. I love Sheryl Crow......she is among the super talented song writers that we are finding less and less in todays music. :) |
