"The moon and sun," is from a famous love poem by EE Cummings - where he says, "You are my sun, my moon, and all my stars." Basically another way of saying the person was the world to him. So to me, Petty is saying that he used to adore & worship the woman, but now that he\'s had the change of heart, she has become now like a loaded gun - no longer someone to be worshipped but someone to be avoided and in a way, feared. |

This song has two sides. One, that broken hearts hurt but that it's not the end of the world. Two, a kind of rueful take on the worst pain that there is in the world - a broken heart - is "only" a broken heart. This song makes me cry. |
