This song seems to be directed towards a politician, but I am not completely sure about that. It released in 1998, but I might think that it is about Joe Biden if it released in our day. |

@[Grim119:48715] It's not political. The first person who commented here quoted Corey Taylor explaining what it is about. I don't agree with Trump on everything, but if there is anyone who has a hive mind, it is the useful idiots with Trump derangement syndrome, who are always letting the pathetic media think for them. They just repeat NPC talking points from the media without ever hearing what the other side is saying. I also don't agree with Corey Taylor on everything (although I think he at least thinks for himself much of the time), but the Slipknot song "The Chappletown Rag" seems to address the problem of people letting the media think for them rather than thinking for themselves. |

I think the song may have something to do with artificial intelligence. That is the impression I get from the lyrics "This menacing creation that we ourselves conceived". |

@[no1careshuiam:33913] That makes sense. The Korn song "Counting on me" seems to have a theme similar to this one. JD seems to have been through a lot of betrayal, which is one reason I can relate to his music so well. |

@[EternalTearsOfSorrow:31430] "But it is the fraudulent nature of that assertion which Slipknot seems to be focusing on. That is to say that the main theme of this track is the singer feeling compelled to present himself as someone he is not".
Good analysis. This made me think of how people who got their pictures taken during the 1800's never smiled for their pictures. I feel like people back then were more real, whereas most people now days just put on a fake smile when they are getting their picture taken. I know that is probably not what was on Cory Taylor's mind when he wrote this song, but the lyrics about smiles in the song just made me think of that, because I basically feel like people are asking me to be fake when they want me to smile for a picture. I don't feel like my smiles are ever real unless I am laughing about something. |

| Pantera – Sandblasted Skin (Reprise) Lyrics

Pantera happens to be one of the influences of some nu metal bands, including Korn, Deftones and Coal Chamber. I have always found those who blindly hate all nu metal to be incredibly closed mind. There is some nu metal I like and some of it I dislike. The same is true with some of the older metal. Pantera may not have preferred nu metal, but I don't get the impression that their members had a big problem with it since the Damageplan album has one song with a nu metal singer - Corey Taylor from Slipknot. |
