The Moody Blues – The Story In Your Eyes Lyrics 1 year ago
I believe the song is about performing in front of a crowd. The Moody Blues were becoming quite successful around the time this song and album dropped. Justin Hayes said although they were becoming successful, he felt a little guilty, but he really was sure why?

The story in your eyes is the eyes of the crowd and they story they tell. Just looking out at the crowd and seeing all the happy people.

"I've been thinking about our fortune
And I've decided that we're really not to blame
For the love that's deep inside us now is still the same"

The band is becoming an entity with high returns, but that shouldn't change how they feel about each other. He might have thought it could hurt the band, but he's passed that now.

And the sounds we make together
Is the music to the story in your eyes
It's been shining down upon me now, I realize

The band makes music that makes people smile. Such a beautiful thing.

Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We're part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day

Listening to the music can help people's moods. (The Moody Blues)
And the band is the center of it all.

But I'm frightened for your children
That the life that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we've been waiting for will turn to rain

I think this part is the guilt speaking from Justin, perhaps wondering how things will eventually turn out.

When the final line is over
And it's certain that the curtain's gonna fall
I can hide inside your sweet, sweet love forever more

The song comes to its inevitable end.

Tool – Fear Inoculum Lyrics 6 years ago
@[robert1129:31535] The mainstream media are the knights who tell the truth, always tell the truth. It is others that have bad intentions and spew their lies. It is believing those more 'unreliable' sources where one has become part of the contagion. Lies only last so long whereas the truth will last forever. If you are caught in the contagion you are not immune to the lies.

Everyone knows what Maynard's thoughts on politics and he absolutely hates Trump. To even think Maynard's words are to tarnish the 'mainstream media' only shows how deep you are in the deception.

It is only when you are able to free yourself from such mania you will find the truth and the truth will set you free, free from your hate.

Tool – Invincible Lyrics 6 years ago
When I listen to this song a direct literal meaning seems to be about going to battle once again. I see the song has 3 separate pieces; getting ready for battle, traveling to battle and the battle itself. I picture a warrior from sometime in the middle ages, once again gearing up for battle and attempting to pump himself up. He's been to battle many times before and he questions his abilities now to accomplish what must be. When the song changes the first I envision a man on a horse along with his men charging to battle, first slow, but then faster and faster until the reach the battle. The 3rd piece is the actual battle and when I hear Maynard screaming I imagine a wielding sword striking his foes. I feel that Maynard feels that even in victory comes further thoughts about our mortality.

Of course the way Maynard writes for a broader interpretation. The song is perfect for this new album, an album where the critics are asking 'do they still have at?" A perfect song to answer that question because not only is it such a monumental song, a Tool song through and through, but it charges directly toward that point. This battle will be won, the album will live up to the hype & life will go on...until next time. I believe Tool fans will be very pleased with what's to come and this song, along with "Descending", is the perfect into to what comes next. We all must realize that at some point every band finds the end of the road, but I believe Tool & Maynard has a ways to go.

Tool – The Pot Lyrics 6 years ago
In general I agree with what I've read. Maynard writes about things to cover a broad array, so while some might believe this has to do with the hypocrisy around pot I believe in deals with hypocrisy in society, no matter where it may be found. I will add an observation. The use of clichés are abundant in this song. Probably more clichés mentioned in this song than any other ever written and when Maynard does something you better bet it has purpose. I find the use of so many clichés quite ironic in a song about hypocrisy. Writing with only clichés isn't writing at all. In doing this Maynard shows the hypocrisy is everywhere and what he's saying is nothing new. Foot in mouth? Indeed.
