The Black Angels – Black Grease Lyrics 6 years ago
also, i’m not sure, beery41 might be right, i don’t know if it is “eagle with red wine” or “evil with red wine”;

but i am sort of sure that “You made me see that bright eye
Between me and time”

is

“You made me see that fine line
Between me and time”

does anyone have a lyric booklet from the album ? it always seems that lyrics made by listener’s ears gonviralnand are always copy and pasted across all the websites, you know.?

i believe this is experience that is shared amongst many heroin users (the ones who get addicted by too short of a time in between uses and a habitatual life style that has it’s dark and light side; or a period of time where they went too far from naive use or further than what they had under control; and found they had to wrestle with withdrawal and staving it off). poppy was referred to as the “hand of god” in ancient cultures, and has many benefits, for when sick (immune sytem/ cell receptor stuff , cough treatment, feeling better, ect.) and for spiritual use and coping, when used sparsely enough to avoid . addiction and tolerance build (part of which never resets, and part of which does, sonthe person won’t have the same effect from a smaller amount, like an opiod naive individual, but will still have lower tolerance than when they were habitually using; meaning the dose they took when using habitually would be fatal; but that is a known part of the territory even before modern pharmacology, it’s just not public common knowledge for drug naive individuals and people who don’t know any people from the subcultures or traditional users; whether sparse or habitual, who have passed down knowledge . people have lost their rituals [regardless of whatever faith ; just importantly, the ancient “pharmacology” [from 100-1000s of years of crappy trial and error] and what won’t basically kill you] in the “modern” world because it is a supressed and taboo activity nowadays and personal well being/spiritual/wellness/pleasure/ext. are seen as hedonistic by a large majority of the f the popular religious and secular orders), but because it is so good, if it isn’t consumed with attention to self control, or if it is given into, then it becomes what is talked about in the song.

i used to think part of it could of related to the govt/military iraq war; but it always seemed drug related. i guess there’s maybe a tye in with a relationship but mostly it seems to be about; i thought maybe psychedelics but likely heroin/opium or maybe both. their song 18 years, seems to be explicitly about heroin. the “something black answers back from the dungeon, and you smile” is a 13th floor elevators - reverberation, reference; “something black answers back, and grabs you from behind, YeaAAHHH” about LSD. so if heroin covers over or gives defense from the bad, when you feed it, or is maybe used to cover over the bad orgive protection through an LSD experience, that’s what i guessed. but here the song seems to show the positive sides of a thing but then mentions it kills things, idk pain, feelings even when they felt it was needed and it ruined some happenings in their lives. i really don’t know; since the band doesn’t say, and it isnt explicit, and it seems to not be a universally typical experience (like 18 years seems to be), then it’s all really supposition and the writer/s could only explain and i can reappropriate the meaningless/or curve ball lyric bits to mean stretched meanings (only for completeness of the vibe i want to hold with the music and phrase parts; or meaning i tried to keep or find in it) or something; but having selective ignorance or distortion of the meaning (with unfitting bits) leaves new bogus meanings or literal thoughts from my mind to arise (in ways that are nonsense and unmeant in the singers personal reality/experience) , rather than to ponder the actual reality of a real possibility/experience / to comprehend what’s being said. like for example in “18 years”, feeling the 2nd hand experience that is shared amongst many heroin users (the ones who get addicted by too short of a time in between uses and a habitatual life style that has it’s dark and light side; or a period of time where they went too far from naive use or further than what they had under control; and found they had to wrestle with withdrawal and staving it off). poppy was referred to as the “hand of god” in ancient cultures, and has many benefits, for when sick (immune sytem/ cell receptor stuff , cough treatment, feeling better, ect.) and for spiritual use and coping, when used sparsely enough to avoid . addiction and tolerance build (part of which never resets, and part of which does, sonthe person won’t have the same effect from a smaller amount, like an opiod naive individual, but will still have lower tolerance than when they were habitually using; meaning the dose they took when using habitually would be fatal; but that is a known part of the territory even before modern pharmacology, it’s just not public common knowledge for drug naive individuals and people who don’t know any people from the subcultures or traditional users; whether sparse or habitual, who have passed down knowledge . people have lost their rituals [regardless of whatever faith ; just importantly, the ancient “pharmacology” [from 100-1000s of years of crappy trial and error] and what won’t basically kill you] in the “modern” world because it is a supressed and taboo activity nowadays and personal well being/spiritual/wellness/pleasure/ext. are seen as hedonistic by a large majority of the f the popular religious and secular orders), but because it is so good, if it isn’t consumed with attention to self control, or if it is given into, then it becomes what is talked about in the song.
