Deftones – You've Seen the Butcher Lyrics 5 years ago
@[FortuneAndFame:29609] had to look this one up as well because it was bothering me. But glow also means to have a warm reddish color, especially from exercise (an alternative definition). So lets clarify this....
"Dont want to take it slow
I want to take you home
And watch the world explode
From underneath your glow."
The glow is from the killer. A lot of people have commented that "from underneath your glow" means that this is the "life" being taken. But rather, the life being taken is the from the line "and watch the world explode". The glow from the killer is from the effort of killing. Which would have to be physically demanding.... enough to "turn red as in from excercise". People are also interpretting the line "and watch the world explode" as if it says "and watch YOUR world explode"... but it doesn't say that. The latter sounds as if it would come from the killer, but those aren't the lyrics, the lyrics are the former. Which can only mean one possible thing.... and that is the vicitim is indeed the one speaking. The direction of the narrative never switches sides. The recipient of the pleasure is the one who as well suffers which can only mean this is a fabrication from another's mind upon what they believe they are doing for this person. They're unintentionally making this act sexual for the victim in their own mind... but almost doing it to intentionally justify their compulsion, and it most certainly is a compulsion since they believe the victim doesn't want to "... take it slow"

Some people have it but I think they're a little off. This song is written about a killer who is describing their victim's first-person perspective of themself getting killed, but with the killer's sexual gratification input into the victim's reaction. The killer has become convinced that the victim gets the same or some sort sexual gratification from this particular act (which is themselves being killed). Obviously that is rediculous, but it would help the killer justify their actions. This killer is clearly attracted to the victim since they "creep" across the victim's skull and video tapes the whole thing. The compulsion to do this has given them the inability to wait longer "dont want to take it slow". Remember.... the song is spoken (or sang) through the narrative of the victim, but in the killer's mind. In other words, the story is the killers' empathy.... only one lacking in care of another's well-being. The belief that the person wanted to be killed for sexual purposes helps the killer accomplish this task. Justification. "You slowly enter, 'cause you know my room" The killer has seen the room's layout... whether that be through the victim possibly being a prostitute the killer has visited or has spied on or some other method. The layout of the room also lets the killer know they must enter slowly. Maybe there's a dog, or an alarm, maybe the bed is close to the door so the person might wake if the killer is too quick. " you crawl your knees off".... this one got me good. Had to look this one up but crawl is a synonym to creep, as well as another act of being stealthy... and clearly doing it to the fullest as they are crawling their knees off. Crawl is associated with creepy things to humans. Bugs, snakes and creepy crawling animals are referred to as such. The room of the victim is their tomb. Their deathbed is their bed. The killer watches the world explode of the victim from underneath the killers glow. This one also kind of got me "underneath your glow." I believe the killer is in front of the light source.... blocking it, officially causing their outline to glow. Or it could be the killer looks at themself as if they have a glow.... which would imply they feel something special for what they're doing is causing them to have a glow the victim might perceive. The shaking of the tomb might imply strangling, or it could mean the killer shakes the bed to wake the victim, which would give a reaction from the victim. Nobody gets woken up by someone in their house standing over their bed and doesnt realize that person isn't a killer, this reaction is what the killer is looking for. I also believe the tape is hooked up to something so that the victim can watch what's happening to them. Whether or not this is actually true.... one thing that is true is how well Chino wrote this song. He was able to take something vile and violent and add such a sexual twist that it is incredibly difficult to define. The amount of detail achieves in such few words blows my mind. Well done Chino Moreno.
