Wolfmother – Joker & The Thief Lyrics

There is one individual hunted by a thief. The individual is marked as a man and a woman. The thief is Satan, or just like Patrick Bates or something. So many allusions to split personalities. |

The White Stripes – Catch Hell Blues Lyrics

|
Self-explanatory, just like any blues song.
Test God, and you go to hell. Question Him, and you go to hell. Try to persecute another for nothing besides you don't like the way they look, God gonna be coming for you then. No one wants to play Him because He is the best at chess, and everyone including atheists believe in Him. (They are just the most struck with awe and in fear of God). |

Portishead – Machine Gun Lyrics

A song maybe about choosing to sacrifice the things in one's life that don't give one the autonomy for making one's choices.
For me, I'm deeply pro-life. Like I'm saying if the choice chosen for me was to have an abortion if the baby would kill me while being pregnant, I would die. Just like St Gianna Molla Berretta. |

This song reminds me of Persephone because that myth could mean the descent into deep comedic tragedy, coming from oneself, or from the "lies" one has been fed. |

I think this song is about winning WWII, and then fighting in the Vietnam War, Korean War, Gulf War,and Desert Storm just to be drowned in no one helping the USA.
But that is just coming from an American. |

Björk – Lionsong Lyrics

This song is about trying to take care of a veteran. Veterans come out with a complex disorder known as post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD. They actually have flashbacks of their time in war. People call them pissants, threats, snowflakes, etc. Why don't you try thanking one for protecting your sorry ass from such violence that it is basically raping, pillaging, and plundering?
Can you believe it that some lady of the lake, night hag once said to me, "Desert Storm's got nothing on me." |

Massive Attack – Voodoo in My Blood Lyrics

Now what did he go through in his past?
Sounds like he was hunted by chaos magic by someone close to him. It's a vicious fight that he thinks made him into a sociopath...the voodoo is in his blood. It's his Mom. Listen to the sounds. Very scary. |

Moby – Porcelain Lyrics

A song about one emotion which is jealousy. People may feel it in a romantic relationship or with their relationship with their parents. Like if their parents never wanted a kid and still even thought about having sex and coming up with one. |

Björk – Stonemilker Lyrics
|
Showing clarity when there is troublesome circumstances in a relationship. They might break-up, they might stay together. They just need to work on it. Which one has trouble coming to terms, and who has trouble putting his/her words into logical sentences? They need to find a common space in their relationship.
I don't really think this song is about just romantic relationships, either. This is about friendship, family, or just acquaintances. People lean on each other, some more than others. There is always some kind of unbalance in the way that people interpret a relationship because no one talks real enough to be able to understand each other. Which side is true, which one is false? It's probably a combination of the two.
Everyone on earth looks for respect from every single one of their peers. |

Bon Iver – The Wolves (Act I and II) Lyrics

To me, this song is about the songwriter having something horrible happen to his girlfriend and him wanting vengeance. Maybe harsh and dark, but it sounds like he wants to spook that girl or boy that did that. |

Bon Iver – RE: Stacks Lyrics

I really think this song is about 'getting away' or moving to another place after losing someone. Maybe to a friend's house. He can't get over it, he is 'paralyzed'. Maybe he doesn't have anyone else because there is only a crow 'feeding' him now. He says 'your love will be safe with me". |

Michael Jackson – Will You Be There Lyrics

I think this song is about forgiveness and also about carrying a brother's cross for them. Carrying someone's burdens, helping out someone who is deeply upset. Jesus tells us all to love one another like brothers and to "love thy neighbor as thyself". Maybe he just wanted to write a song about Jesus.
Even, if you had ever been to Mass, one would know that the singers, besides Jackson, sound like a choir. |

This song has "get me hot" written all over it. Listen to the way the notes sound and the lyrics get embodied by them. If you had ever seen dancers or even just one movie from Hollywood or a TV show, one would get it is about foreplay. |

Nina Simone – Feeling Good Lyrics

Freedom. Her African American heritage could have compelled her to sing this song. She sings fiercely and with the attitude of a new beginning. Just like what someone who just won their life over again might do. |

Otis Redding – (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay Lyrics
| 5 years ago
|
To me this song means that the narrator doesn't need or want to change according to the rules of another person. Nothing is going to change him, and he has the strength to put that through. He is just going to waste time being himself instead of some constructed image of a man he could be or what he used to be. He might have changed before, "Two thousand miles I roam, just to make this dock my home," but now his "loneliness won't leave him alone" and he decided to change back to what he could call his 'normal self'. |
