| Joni Mitchell – I Think I Understand Lyrics | 6 years ago |
| Joni herself explains (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeZC-6G0kHs) how she was inspired to write this song, from J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy and the character of Galadriel, who provided travellers with a vile of light to fight off the darkness and combat the fears and dangers of the wilderland that follows in their trip. | |
| Steely Dan – Aja Lyrics | 6 years ago |

In a much more straightforward interpretation, Aja was the Korean charming woman Fagen is referring elsewhere, recalling his high school years - maybe a tiny crush he had. The house on the hill was a rich persons mansion. The owner threw a party where Fagen was hired to play music (dance in the song), for dime money. Back in the days, playing music at rich - and indifferent to his playing - people's parties, was probably a way for Fagen to earn some cash. Double helix is a known air pirouette cheerleaders perform, maybe in our case a special number or score Fagen was providing to impress his apathetic audience. Returning to Aja later was his thought to ease his mind of the chore he was doing. |
