Wow, clearly mostly non-fans or noob fans trying to educate the masses. Don't get me wrong, some of you seem like you keep up on Coheed lore, but don't dig too deep for answers. The song is pretty much about what it sounds like. He is talking about the music industry and the people in it. First and foremost, Claudio writes based in events, people, circumstances, feeling, and the like, which pertain to contemporary life, such as it is for him at any particular time.
Claudio has been quoted describing the basis for this song. Google makes it pretty easy to find. Yes, it was molded to fit into the story afterwards, as most songs he writes end up. |

@[Lordspanky0891:29233] I meant what I found out was close to what I newly imagined. I need to start proof reading again, apparently lots of sites still don’t allow post editing. |

Most of you got a decent intuition imagining that it is about an abusive relationship. I probably would as well if I hadn’t luckily found out long ago that every instance of sun in the lyrics is spelled son. After finding this out I did research and my new feelings about the song were close to what I newly imagined. Anyway, the song is essentially about a child growing up in a loveless, occasionally abusive family with unfeeling parents. Specifically it is about Hetfield’s own upbringing. So sorry it wasn’t about relationships at its heart. But hey, music can be what you want it to be and honestly the relationship angle works so go with it if you like. Either way pretty good song man. |
