@[titan05eagle09:32259] I don't care what anyone says, that is not what he sings there. While I don't know exactly what the lyrics are supposed to be, I'm pretty sure there are numerous errors in the various interpretations found online. But this line in particular, it occurred to me recently that he possibly could be singing "Snow White, Maleficent, partners in crime". It seems to make way more sense than the whole "...mirror said, partners in crime", and could possibly be alluding to those you think of as good working with those known to be evil, promoting distrust and confusion in society. I'll never believe the "mirror" line unless it comes straight out of Geezer Butler's mouth. Also, it's "PAINTED silver lining". |

I always thought this song was about a complete jerk with a bad temper that intimidates people, and in the end even when you get away from them, there's always going to be another "that guy" at some point. |

@[thesithempire:28897] I'm glad to see somebody corrected this. I don't understand where someone ever got "cold blooded spoof" from. After many years I thought to look up the lyrics to this song to hopefully clear up some of the stuff I was never sure about over the years, and cringed like hell when I saw that on so many lyrics sites. Same with the "which burning secrets" line, another one you would think was obvious. As for the line you have a (?) on, I always thought he said "Tears burn of sadness. The line after that was new to me, I always misread that as "feel them myself" referring to the tears, but reading what you have for that seems to fit better, though I think it's "sealed in *my* cell".
Someone should do an interview with Geezer all about lyrics, and see if he remembers some of the stuff he wrote in these songs. The two other ones that have ate at me for years: the "unicorn" line in Symptom Of The Universe, and the "Snow White" line in Never Say Die. I have a hard time accepting that it's "snow white's mirror said partners in crime" but I really don't have any good suggestions about what he's really saying there. |
