No. Carrie Snodgress is actually a girl he broke up with before he did this song. That's where that line came from. Everybody thinks Aztecs were savages. He's just pointing out, they had a different belief system than ours. That's all. |

Hate to ruin everyones day,but you're way off. Song is about the Aztecs and Montezuma. The part of sacrifice. They weren't being jag offs. True,they sacrificed POW's. These others they clipped. They were citizens. It was an honor to be chosen to be sacrificed. He put that part in there,cause better part of us think they were savages. They weren't doing it looking for kicks on a Saturday Night. It was their beliefs. Basically trying to educate us. It's just like God ordered Abraham sacrifice his son. At the last minute God gave him a ram to sacrifice. I don't give a flyin fork if you read Bible or not. I bring that up to illustrate my point. I guess since Noah was gonna sacrifice his son,that makes us savages. He sings about,"they built up with their bare hands,what we still can't do today". We got machines help us build huge building. They only had themselves. My God . They only had themselves and look at what they did. I say buy each one of those men a beer. We'd be reduced to crying little girls if we had to do that. Young said,"why the fork "why am I writing a song about Montezuma and the Aztecs. I read a couple books on them. Other that that,I don't know dick about them. Remember all the douchebag priest that came there. They burned all the books Aztecs had. There goes your explanation for their civilization. Oh well typical Catholic. The line about,"I know she's living there,loves to this day,I still don't remember how,or when I lost ,my way. He was talking about Carrie Snodgress. They just recently broke up. On another note,I saw his Live Rust tour with Crazy Horse at the Cow Palace. That was back in '78 or '79. I haven't seen him lately. He probably ain't like I remembered him anyway. Peace✌️!

The part about the police telling Ronnie they can’t drink in the bar,is partly true. Ronnie basically started a lot of fights when he was drinking. He was a mean drunk. First person that pissed him off or looked at him cross ways,would get Ronnie going . Billy Powell went to a bar by himself one time. There were “good ol boys” in there that started messing with Billy. He got into a fight with them. He got his ass whipped bad. He came back to motel. Told Ronnie and the rest of the band what happened. That was all it took. Ronnie and the other members headed off to that bar. They found the guys responsible for assaulting Powell. The typical bar room brawl insued. They messed up the guys that took out Billy (along with part of the bar). So the part in the song is not entirely untrue. They destroy bars and people if they get into bar fights. So you can see why they wrote that part in the song about the cops telling them,”stay outta the bars. We don’t want to deal with your shit”. |

Unless, someone knows the group,who knows exactly what they meant. The guys that wrote the song may be Jewish,but there are Jew that worship Christ. "Jews for Jesus". They worship Christ. "You don't have to hide anymore". Christians having to hide from persecution. 'all you sitting in high places,rain gonna fall on you". May have had to do with "10 Plagues of Egypt". Pharos didn't cut the Jews loose like he asked pharo to do,so "rain gonna fall on you",,may be a reference to the Plagues. |
