| I’d have to definitely say this song is about a couple dealing with mental illness, perhaps depression. “All the perfect drugs and superheroes/wouldn’t be enough to bring me up to zero.” I have depression, and I was one of the lucky ones, the first medication they tried, worked. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. Sometimes you have to try several drugs, trying to find one that work. Having said that, there are times when, even if they work, they just aren’t enough. This is where a strong support system comes in, and it can be very hard on the supporting person. In my case it’s my wife that lends most of the support. She’s been there every step of the way. It doesn’t have to be some monumental jesture. Sometimes it’s as simple as just reassuring me that “Things will get better. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but they will get better.” “Baby I bet you’ve been more than patient / saying it’s not a catastrophe.” , is almost word for word what I’ve said to my wife. | |
