This song comes from Dante XXI, a thematic album about the Divine Comedy. So, this song talks about Dante in purgatory. "The skies are open before me", Heaven right above. "Those fools are the ones we vote for", Dante saw many important people in hell, many of them connected with politcs. |

That lyrics made me think a little. The meaning is not very explicit. I believe it's about two people who see reality differently, and this causes conflict between them. "I'll throw you scraps and talk The bad things The language or the motive Affected shown is", the first person, talking with anger. "On my end I trust in What's left here To lie is Admired you trust in Without fear You borrow", a negative person, and a positive. "My world of one speak up The good things The guidelines let me follow Offense is borrowed", the other person, maybe, provoking the first. |

A little research helped me to elaborate my interpretation of this lyrics. Algiers is a huge financial, corporate, commercial and cultural center. Page Hamilton talks about urbanization and destruction of resources. "I don't know why we're hated Yeah, we got problems too It's only filthy land", a justification to expand the business. "Another worthless malcontent Another savage Another day without regret And all this damage", the discontent of the population in relation to the damages caused by the growing economy. My favorite verses. |

| Many goods interpretations. I had to come here to see these others perspectives. Before I came, I saw the lyrics as a parent talk about his child. My mother used to say that I was my father's reflection. | |

I think this letter is about the act and the guilt of gossip. Most of the lines give tips. For example: "Indecise and deaf or dumb, tongue-dried in the sun" the dilemma of telling or not a gossip; "It corresponds with your secret view and never weight upon you" gossip is your vision about someone, a secret that does not weigh on you, but who you talk about. "It works like crime, adjust your view. Waste your time improving" a sermon, suggesting a change for the better. "She's cut so well and lifelike too. You'll bleed to death before me" I think it speaks as much as a gossip can seem real, and both gossipy and victim will get hurt, but whoever does the wrong always falls first. That's it. Virtually all the lines talk about it, but I pointed only the ones I liked the most. |
