He is sad because he can't feel like other people towards the joys of life. He doesn't enjoy what other people enjoy and because of that it feels like he has always been blind, not being able to enjoy. But then something happens. He doesnt know what but he stopped feeling hopeless. He felt alive. Walking machine. I sense some existentialism in this song. Maybe even nihilism. |

"They say home is the place where your heart is Then I am home now, though I am far away" I am where I want to be(by the sea), but I am far away from you verse 1 "And I'm trying my best to be tough To pretend I am strong and can siphon it off But I'm not who I wanted to be" Verse 4 "I just want to come home and lay down beside you And then I'll be who I wanted to be" I think he implies that what he wants to be is just coming home and being with her, laying down beside her. He also tries to be strong(tough) and siphon it off, but then he isn't what he wanted to be. "They say home is a place where you're needed Then I am home now, but I am leaving" He implies that assuming what they say is true, she needs him; therefore, he is at home. But he is leaving to be with the seaweed. He adds that he doesn't want her to see him like this, not being able to resist his dream of living in a house by the sea. He adds that this situation just adds on his darkness(stress?), putting him into a situation where it is hard to decide. He claims although he understands very less, he thinks a house by the sea would be good. I personally correlate with this song a lot. I have distant relationship and that I just want to go home and lay beside him, but I can't just leave this place that I am living since it was my childhood dream to live here. Therefore, it is a pretty sad song in my opinion. |
