I feel that this song is indirectly about Laura/Tom being in the psychiatrist's office having the meetings to get the hormone treatment prescribed and having to justify herself to the shrink that she really is trans. I think that explains the 'Pimp/whore' dynamic and the 'kingmaker' line. Laura doesn't want to talk like that anymore (justifying herself) or talk to people like that anymore (shrinks). In her autobiography, she talks about how the shrink made her dress up as a stereotype woman with pretty make up ('as if I was your fucking whore') and frilly dresses, instead of a punk woman like Laura is, just to prove to the shrink that she was trans enough. The shrink is the kingmaker who decides if she gets to transition. ...and hey, I'm sure maybe the shrink was wearing brass rings? Also, regarding 'black me out.' That is Laura wanting to erase the masculine Tom, such as when in the book she literally blacked out a tattoo because it was too masculine. So my idea of the song is Tom/Laura in a state of transition, feeling angry at the shrink (I want to piss on the walls of your house) and she just wants to be herself and black out any of the masculinity. |
