The guy is breaking up with a girl from a long time relationship. He doesn't know how to say it or how to do it. He knows how he feels, but also doesn't. The most compassionate thing for him to do is to let her know his truth while consoling her and encouraging her to cry. He wants to leave but doesn't want the finality of a goodbye. He reminds her often that this is him giving her love. He was waiting for the fairytale with her, but it hasn't come yet. And during this delay, he was able to identify the real story that is in front of him, a different one. He ends by going into another fairytale, stories from the Bible. Everything is just a story. We don't know if he believes the bible stories to be real or fake. Or he could be in full surrender, in prayer, as the song ends. |
