| Hozier – Someone New Lyrics | 4 years ago |
| In the music video, Natalie Dormer appears to be playing a femme fatale seemingly working her way through a series of strangers in late night encounters whilst Hozier strums onstage at a dark, moody club. However, the steamy sessions are just a figment of her imagination stirred by coveting the romantic partners of people she sees on the street. "It was a joy to be a part of the \'Someone New\' video," she said. "It plays with ideas of how loneliness and isolation are two different things and the weight or lightness we can attach to loving another person."\nWhilst performing this song at an iHeart Radio live event, Hozier admitted that he wrote it with a former love. "This next song is a fun one, it\'s about love at its most... futile and shallow and useless," he said. "And, awkwardly, I wrote it with an ex-girlfriend."\n\nIrish-Sierra Leonean soul singer Sallay Matu Garnett is listed on the album credits as having written the tune along with Hozier.\nThe song was released as the fifth single from Hozier\'s self-titled debut studio LP. "The album is about love from a dark place, or love from an empty place," he explained to Q magazine. "Realizing that everyone is just scrambling around trying to make do is something that informs the album. Being a teenager would be a lot easier if people said, \'Everyone\'s unhappy, man, don\'t worry about it.\'"\n\nHe added: "Ultimately, you look for a reassuring thought, \'When does this get better?\' But it may not, and then you die, so that feeling of not being able to gain reassurance in anything is very human." | |

Heart is "about being vulnerable and letting ourselves be in love and unafraid - a reckless abandon of sorts." (source: Sleeping At Last's blog). The song uses heights as a lyrical theme to convey taking risks for love. It reminds me of a quote from Wynonna Earp: “Well, if it's right you don't think about the cliff, because you're sure when you reach the edge you'll fly.” If you make yourself vulnerable to your person, if you pull the pin on the grenade and break down the walls around your heart, they'll pull the win on your parachute so you don't hit the ground. |

| Sleeping At Last – Dear True Love Lyrics | 4 years ago |
| A love song on the surface, written for valentine's day, but there are several references revealing hidden meanings related to films Ryan connected with. For example, "I'm a lantern without any light" (Tangled) or "i'm a dreamer of someone else's dreams" (Inception). | |

| The Adults Are Talking is about the division between politicians (the adults) and the people (the kids). | |
| Hayley Kiyoko – Feelings Lyrics | 7 years ago |

The societal norm in the dating scene is to "play it cool" and "hard to get" while she just wants to be honest in a relationship and not be ashamed of having feelings. "I over-communicate and feel too much / I just complicate it when I say too much" It's quite clear in the song how the singer feels and she's not going to hide it. |
