Akira Yamaoka – Room of Angel Lyrics 5 years ago
@[Draniei:28240] I really like your interpretation! Especially the part of the daughter being pregnant was well spotted!

I have thoughts and comments to this part though:

“perhaps you're happy without me”

She is wondering if her mother is happy dead, because she’s not there.
--> I agree and the reason she would be happy is that the daughter was an unwanted child.

“so many seeds have been sown in the field
and who could sprout up so blessedly
if I had died”

Here she wonders, if she wasn’t there to take care of her mother, who would her mother have asked for.

--> instead I think this again is about the daughter being an unwanted pregnancy. Had she been stillborn or died young perhaps the mother could have had a child she actually wanted and givin it a blessed childhood. The wanted children were not allowed to grow (birth control) because the unwanted daughter was a too big of a burden to have more children.

“I would have never felt sad at all --> had she not lived she would not have had this awful life with sadness and pain.

you will not hear me say I'm sorry” --> she can not forgive her mother.

I fully agree with the rest of your interpretation and thank you so much for sharing it!
