| Steve Perry – You Better Wait Lyrics | 7 years ago |

I think this song has a slightly different meaning. It starts off talking about a pretty 17 yr old that is wanted by everyone but loved by none. She feels unloved so she decides to run away and become a "professional" to be loved. He's telling her to wait and not give in to her need instant gratification. "In the Darkness comes Evil in the night" refers to the men that see her in the night. "Neon lights, reflect your life", refers to the neon lights on the buildings that she walks at night. He keeps telling her to "Stop! Yourself before you fall, Stop yourself before you lose it all, somewhere there's love.....YOU BETTER WAIT!" He's telling her to wait to find love, it's out there somewhere. I know this is a darker interpretation, but I think he may be referring to an old female friend that fell victim to that lifestyle. |
