Black Books – The Big Idea Lyrics 4 years ago
To me, this just screams silicon valley tech industry. Someone had a great idea but their friend or partner was the one who made a killing on it, taking a buck and making a million. But that million was just ephemeral stock options and venture capital. In the meantime, the friend could have anything that you want before the crash, good times of plentyband promise. The singer is remembering when they were just friends with "a big idea" before the promise of millions of dollars destroyed their friendship.

Timber Timbre – Black Water Lyrics 7 years ago
Here's the story in my mind: during the Viking explorations, the Vikings approached an island in a frigid area. The lyrics mention "Moon Falls" so perhaps near Lake Ontario (there are legends of Vikings exploring the Great Lakes). The island was inhabited with protector spirits that were willing to do what was necessary to purge the island of the invaders: set the ship afire, drown them, destroy their food source (fish), etc.

And this song is from the adoring perspective of one of the "worker" spirits that normally lived in the depths of the lake, who was called out to the surface by the Great Spirit that was orchestrating all of this to drive away the Vikings.

Someday the band is going to explain this and it will probably be nothing like what I envision, but I like my story anway.
