To me, this song is about a young girl who was cautioned by everyone to be careful in love or she would get her heart broken. She grows up, finds a boy, and inevitable falls in love with him that she throws out everything she was warned. She believes his empty words and promises to be true. She trusts him and shuts down all the naysayers who say he will cheat/hurt her by telling them, "It's impossible...he would never do that to me. He loves me." But to her dismay, he ends up doing exactly what everyone said he would. She seems to be in shock and disbelief by his actions, saying she thought it was IMPOSSIBLE. Now, she is left heartbroken and embarrassed for taking up for him and being proved wrong. So, she sings, go ahead and tell them. Tell them how you burned me and brag that you have won. She is done and just wants it to be over, already. |
