I think this is a song about a girl he fell In love with who was from Moscow. And when she left the USA he knew she would never return. She didn’t feel “right” in “our world” (the USA), he knew that and knew she wouldn’t return. The opening bits of the lyrics are more about her wanting space to contemplate their relationship, so she left for home but she never returned. The last bits of the song are about what it would have been like if she never left. “Would it be just like you said it would” and he is imagining her face and saying it is like she never left. |
