Beck – Volcano Lyrics 7 years ago
@[horriblefanfare:27553] .
Not obvious. The actual suicide volcano story is plenty inspiring, No need for scientology... this song and the album invokes more of a sense of existential philosophy or or even later philisophical thought which places more emphasis on the subjective sources of meaning... Cheers

I did not hear "Warming" bones. I heard "on the fire a while". But I think you are on track. Ultimately it seems to be about acceptance (of fire, sufferring, modernity, confusion) and choosing life....

this song seems so much more universal than the scientology interpretations suggest. The real story of the girl who jumped into the Volcano, and more generally japanese suicide informs Beck's understanding and description of modern experience.
"I don't want to jump in though, I want my bones on the fire a while" = conscious acceptance his existential suffering/ struggle. that could be suffering that is simply due to being human., or any of the subjective experiences described in modern guilt, including the suffering a japanese lesbian struggling to accept her sexuality in the face of shaming cultural norms.
