| Joni Mitchell – The Circle Game Lyrics

This song is a realistic of life. Your born, you get children and work, then you retire. Is that all? For many it is. It is a circle ride that never ends from the time you're born until the day you die. Joni obviously got off the ride and forged her own purpose through circumstances and not by choice. |

About the singer who got high during the concert from the pot smoked by the audience. He attends an after concert party on a yacht and "called out for another drink." The miller in attendance "told his tale." Evidently a ghastly one which turned an attractive vestal virgin (one of sixteen) to a ghostly whiter shade of pale. The singer tried to pick up the vestal virgin who was leaving for the coast soon as he was trying to impress her with his card playing (wandered through my playing cards) and "wouldn't let her be." He had all the signs that the girl wasn't interested in his advances (eyes open but might just as well have been closed.) Then the longer lyrics continue to describe him stalking her on the yacht as he becomes more intoxicated and delirious. |

During the phase of sexual promiscuity for young adults, a loving, compatible relationship takes a backseat to pure physical sexual pleasure. The ongoing objective to get laid makes the human interaction very impersonal. After many years of this, the quantity of quality companions become less and less as those people get married and drop out. This song addresses those people who still make the rounds of the "singles" circuit who are now trying to find more spiritual meaning beyond a good lay. |

If you've lived a life of discovering what love is, this song ironically puts those whom you thought weren't lonely as the really lonely ones. Trying to be loved by the group consensus (aka admission into a society group) means giving up who you are to appease the group's norms. Just having sex with someone isn't love. It only satisfies the lowest chakra (root chakra) in your spirit, that is just a good f*@[k:27512]. When you discover you true self in solitude and are able to live that, you will find a someone whom you really connect with. Having sex or a relation with this person is the ultimate organsim as it embraces not only the bodies of the two but the spirit. This is what a good solid relation is all about..Anything outside of that are different degrees of loneliness. |

| Kenny Loggins – House at Pooh Corner Lyrics

When I was a senior in high school, I had a crush on this girl. She turned down my offers to a date. One day I asked her friend out. To my surprise she said yes. We had dinner at a candle light tavern where a musician played and sang "House on Pooh Corner." During the date, the girl wasn't very open. But when that song was sung, and another Seals and Crofts song was sung she suddenly opened up and we had a good time. I liked her and wanted to see her again, but it seems she just served to investigate what type of person I really was for her friend (the one that kept turning me down.) Subsequently, I went on to seek other romances but after a while the girl I dated really started opening up to me. It seems that many girls (and guys) are in a desperate rush to find a mate, like the way it happens at a dance "before the music ends." She was probably no exception and was promised or setup by her parent's approval for some boring, hard-working dude. So this song represents a lost of that child like innocence and freedom to choose your lifelong partner without deadline pressure following high school. I'm sure many people can relate to this having said what I said when they hear this song. |
