The songs about love, and keeping yourself together when it breaks. The non single version of this song starts off with two guys, Matt and Tim. Tim asks Matt if he’s talked to they’re mutual friend Mark lately. Matt responds “I haven’t talked to him but he looks pretty, uh down” Tim laughs and repeats “he looks pretty, uh down” implying that there’s information about mark to make that statement humorous. My theory is that mark has gone through a hard break up and both Matt and Tim are making light of it. First verse speaks of Mark sulking in the grass “mind thugged, laced, bugged, comfortable, fuzzy, not being there, impaired” mark is clearly drunk or drugged out “indulging in self defeat” after loosing his sunshine aka loved one. Chorus: “I know it’s up to me” “making sure I’m not in too deep” “ keeping on my feet” showing that he feels a bit of guilt over his weekend binder. Second verse is with Tim and Matt. This time they spot Sharon in public. (marks ex) Tim states “never seen her look so bad” and “what do you think she got up to last night?” Matt just responds with laughter. My theory is that Sharon too is on a binder after the break up and of course looks like shit. And then Tim shows his characters rambunctious side by heckling Sharon. Third verse is Sharon’s where she’s really in la la land tripping ballz on some acid tabs. Then the song goes back to the first chorus repeating that it’s your responsibility to pick yourself up when your down. |
