Great song. I loved to listen when I was a young teen and still love it today. The genre of music is certainly rock and roll, but it also fits the definition of “filk” music which includes elements of sci-fi, horror, etc. The song also fits the gene of political protest. A lot going on in a seemingly simple song. |

Songs have meanings to the writer, the performer and the listener. My wife died at a young age. As she was taking her last breath, this song played on the radio in the hospital room. Some of you may not believe that this happened. May 18, 2003 in Savannah, Georgia. We were both very fond of the song. For me, the one left alone after a wonderful, short, and difficult life together, it took on an entirely different meaning. I would have followed her if I could, but the responsibilities that we created together made following impossible. She was my wildest dream. |
