This song is about one of the most highly decorated WWII vets named Audie Murphy (first lieutenant). He received every U.S. award for Valor and the Belgian Croix de Guerre along with the French Croix de Guerre. He received other French awards too. He received the Medal of Honor at 19 for singlehandedly holding off an entire German company of soldiers at Colmar Pocket, France. A company of 50 Germans attacked Audie's platoon that he was commanding. The Germans got a direct hit on their M10 tank destroyer and set it on fire. Audie ordered his platoon into the woods and stoo on the flaming destroyer firing it's .50 cal machine gun for over an hour while the German foot soldiers and tanks targeted him. He suffered a leg wound yet only stopped when he ran out of ammo. He then regrouped and led his platoon on a successful counterattack. Audie also had a 21-year acting career, which led to him playing himself in the autobiographical film "To Hell and Back". He also wrote some poetry and cowrote some songs with Scott Turner. May 28,1971, he aircraft Audie was traveling in crashed due to zero visibility. Along with Audie, four other passengers and the pilot were killed. On June 7 he was buried in Arlington with full military honors.his headstone contains the false birth year 1924 due to him falsifying documents so he could enter the army early. Audie suffered from PTSD and slept with a loaded handgun under his pillow. He took addicting sleep pills to try and negate nightmares. Rest in Peace Audie Murphy; 6/20/1925-5/28/1971 Peace out § |

| Soundgarden – Jesus Christ Pose Lyrics | 7 years ago |

I think this could be a few different things including fake victimization and manipulation but I also have a few ideas. My first idea is hypocrisy. Someone in Jesus Christ pose is unfairly accusing someone of causing their pain. My second is people like Jehovah's witnessea. He's tired of them coming and saying he needs to come to the light, change, etc. |

| Slash & Friends – Crucify The Dead (feat. Ozzy Osbourne) Lyrics | 7 years ago |

I think this song could be about someone he was close to but grewfarther away from them "We were like brothers with the world in our hands You always have too much to say Someday you look back and you wonder why You let it all slip away" Pesonality change? "The thorns are knots around your head Your ego cursed you till you bled You cannot crucify the dead To me you're dead" Fire is a reference to completely burning the bridge between the two? |

| @[infernex94:27019] Sorry man, but I think all songs have meaning no matter how deep or whether the artist even knows. | |

Jep321 touched upon this but I thought I'd expand. Jep thought it could be about suicide: "The first lines describe how the character hides his sadness. His eyes are indisposed, and the snake (his depression or sadness) is in disguise. It hides behind his eyes, but is omnipresent in his mind. He's always depressed, but no one knows but him. Now onto the chorus. "Black Hole Sun"... I've always thought that a Black Hole Sun was referring to the way a gun barrel looks when it goes off. When a gun goes off, there is a black hole in the middle of a ring of fire, which is exactly what a "Black holed Sun" would look like. "Won't you come and wash away the rain." I've always thought that Cornell was asking the Black Hole Sun to come and wash away his sadness, meaning that he wanted to shoot himself to end his pain." Also," Call my name through the dream and I'll hear you scream again" could be a nightmare. Calls his name through the dream is a nightmare disturbing his sleep. "In my shoes, walking sleep" I think could be in Chris's point of view, he wasn't in control. "and my youth I pray to keep..." could be he wants to die young or go to heaven (heaven is perfect so he would be young?) "Hang my head, drown my fear, till you all just disappear..." hang my head, ashamed of something/ of wanting to commit suicide. Drown my fear push past his fear of suicide till we all disappear or he passes on whilenwenarenstill on earth. A very sad interpretation that IS hope wasn't true. Rest in Peace Chris Cornell, one of the greatest singers of all time. Peace out, Ripplerz § |
