I feel very uncool having just found this song in 2016, and now finding this website, I really have lost my edge. I laughed and sang along vigorously with this wonderfully wistful and cheeky musings on "i am much cooler than you are" snobbery found amongst alternative music devotees. Come on, we have all done it. We love to "find" someone new and then share this amongst our music loving friends. It is what makes music such a universal bonding agent. I never saw Can, but I do love, and have seen on many visits to Australia, Kraftwerk, much to the chagrin of my "they're not punk" associates. This is a great piece of music, and laugh out loud clever at putting us all in our place. By the way, there is this awesome band called the Melvins, no seriously, you should give them a listen. |
