Fantastic tune! My take on the lyrics are that this is about a relationship that has ended because his partner had an affair. “The kingdom of rust” is what remains of a relationship that was once something amazing and beautiful, but has now turned to rust and ruin because it has been destroyed by the infidelity. “My god, it takes an ocean of trust” because how can the relationship survive now that the trust is gone. Even with an ocean of trust, there will still be doubts. It will never be the same again. “I long to feel some beauty in my heart As I go searching, right to the start” is an aching for when everything seemed perfect and the love between them was strong and beautiful. The song is a sad and heart felt reminiscence of a happy time that can never be found again. |
